Student Responsibilities & Classroom Information
Students who are absent are responsible for any worked that is missed. This is the student’s responsibility, not the teacher’s. Students will complete make-up work within the number of days they missed. For example, if a student misses 2 class periods, he has 2 class periods to complete the work. Students missing class for school-related functions are expected to get assignments prior to the day they will miss. Make-up work may be turned in for full credit. Administration will be notified after 2 consecutive absences. A student can lose credit for a course after 5 absences of any kind.
Students may be allowed to correct quizzes or tests. For corrections, students must attend tutoring. Students must correct any problems missed and show all necessary work. Students will receive half credit for each correction that is made.
If a student needs to leave the classroom at some point during class, the student must sign out in the blue folder in the back of the room. For the first 30 minutes of class, students will only be allowed out for an emergency. This will require a nurse’s pass. Students must fill in their name, the date, the period, and the reason for leaving. The time out and in will be filled in by the teacher. Only one person will be allowed out of the classroom at once. A student must have their own agenda and I.D. to be excused from class. A student will be limited to 3 breaks during the 9 week period. Get done and get back quickly!
Calculators are available for class use when needed. The use of calculators is a privilege and not a right. Treat the calculators well. Misuse of the calculators includes taking the batteries, scratching or marking any part of the calculator, leaving inappropriate messages or drawings on the screen, or taking the calculator from the classroom. Use common sense when using the calculators. Calculator abuse may result in class loss of calculator privileges.
During announcement time, students need to be quiet. Although you may not care to hear the announcements, some people do, including me.
For all assignments, students must use pencil and put their name, the date, the period, and the assignment in the upper right-hand corner of the paper. I will not grade anything that does not have the proper heading or is done with a pen.
At the end of class, I will let students know when the bell is about to ring. This will leave plenty of time for students to pack up their stuff. Wait until instructed to do so.
Drinks and small food items will be allowed in the classroom but must not interfere with class. This is a privilege and not a right. Keep the room clean!
